As the number of Japanese restaurants located overseas has increased every year, it has been estimated at 89,000 (as of July 2015). MAFF (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) have become one of the important hubs that distribute Japanese food culture to overseas. However, there are still only a limited number of restaurants overseas that sell food, ingredients and alcohols produced in Japan. Therefore, guidelines for the certification of Japanese food and ingredient supporter stores overseas have been established to certify overseas restaurants and retail stores as places, which promote the charm of food ingredients and alcohols produced in Japan by actively using such products.
